All-Star Game

Team Dorwart defeated Team Rizzo 9-5 on Canada Day. The A's Todd Campbell picked up the win throwing three scoreless innings to start the game for Dorwart. Travis Grozdanich got thing started in the first inning for Team Dorwart as he singled home Glen Conley from second to make the score 1-0. In The third, Conley increased the lead to 3-0 with a two out, two run double to left center. He later scored on a mysterious error by Steve Rizzo to make the score 4-0. It appeared after the game that Rizzo accepted some sort of monetary gain from the 'play'. Team Rizzo mounted a comeback in the top of the sixth by scoring three times, all unearned off of Don Boscher. Team Dorwart put things away in the last of the sixth by scoring five times to increase the lead to 9-3. Murray Beauvais led the way in the sixth with a three run shot to right center. Karsten Fenekoldt tried to make things interesting in the seventh for Rizzo, but his two run shot was too little too late. Glen Conley was the unofficial All-Star game MVP going 3-3 with two doubles. boxscore

Home Run contest

The Redhawks' Travis Johnson was the first batter to hit of the 20 or so entries in the HR derby. He proceeded to hit seven big flies to set the early mark. The number seemed to get in the heads of the next few batters as only one of the next seven hitters managed to hit any home runs. Four others managed to qualify for the final round as Todd Campbell, Travis Grozdanich, Bevan Blatchford, and Chris Davenport all hit two. In the final round you keep your original score and try to add to it. Travis Johnson was shutout in the final round and posted a total of seven. None of the other finalists were able to make a run at the leader with Travis Grozdanich finishing second by hitting two more for a total of four.
