The Red Sox led much of the game before falling 7-4 on a chili morning at Thompson. The Red Sox took at 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a two out single by Bob Jackson. Later, the Red Sox took a 4-2 lead before the Firebirds tied things in the top of the 5th. The game remained tied at four until the top of the seventh when the Firebirds rallied for three runs to take the lead for good. Bill Boscher led the way pitching a complete game while adding three RBI's. Mike Willcox and Bevan Blatchford added two RBI's a piece.
