With the Mudcats up 7-0 after 3 it was looking like a tired A's team may still be fatigued from their game the evening before. In the top of 4 the A's put up 2 runs that seemed to wake the tired bunch and by the top of 5 Ron Clarkson who had been pitching a gem was chased from the game with the score now 7-6 Cats. In the 6th it was again all A's punching up 4 more runs now taking the lead for the first time 10-8. Wayne Hales pitched a perfect 7th for the Cats taking them down in order to set the final frame of the game. New Cats sensation Harold Hopink stepped up and hit a triple (2-3, 1-2B,1-3B, 1-R/S,1 RBI)to lead things off and later scored on a F/C. The next 2 Mudcat batters flew out to LF to end a close one 10-9. Bottom of 5 with Ron Clarkson on 2nd the score now tied at 7 and nobody out, The RBI man himself John Yeomans lasers a line drive up the middle, a couple feet off the second base bag is perfectly positioned 2nd catches and makes the easy double play that not only left it 2 out nobody on, but took away the go ahead run and turned the tables for the A's to take the game.
