Tyler Dawes continued his hot day at the plate going 3-4 with a
2 run bomb in the 3rd. The Dodgers started off shaky giving up 3
runs in the 1st after Bowman made three errors at short stop.
The Dodgers answered with two of their own in the 2nd and two
more in the 3rd to take the lead. The Mudcats threatened in the
bottom of the 6th with runners on 1st and 2nd with none out, but
Steve picked off the runner at 2nd to end the threat. The
Mudcats also had runners on in the bottom of the 7th, and with
Chris Smith on 2nd base he took off with a base hit but didn't
want to stop at 3rd. Standing in the middle between 3rd and home
Chris decided to take off for home with Leslie holding the ball
in short right field and was thrown out at the plate on a very
close play to end the scoring threat. After the game the Dodgers
celebrated a wet Family Fun Day. Spirits were still high and a
good time was had by all. The kids enjoyed potato sack races,
egg & spoon race, water guns, egg toss and a whole swack of
hamburgers and hot dogs. A very big thanks goes out to Mr. and
Mrs. Dawes who helped out tremendously to man the grill and beer
coolers.
