Winning Pitcher
Don Boscher

Don Boscher struck out sixteen Dodgers hitters, including nine in a row at one point,  and allowed just four hits as the Firebirds defeated the Dodgers 5-2 on Friday night. The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth thanks to the third home run of the season for Darren Silcox. The massive two run shot landed on the concession stand at Thompson after one bounce. The Firebirds battled back in the bottom of the sixth as the first three batters reached on singles, closing the lead to 2-1. Then, with the tying run on third base and nobody out, pitcher Mike Young got the next three batters to strike out, but the third batter reached on a wild strike three to allow the tying run to score. Vince Thorndycraft followed with his second hit of the game to make the score 4-2. The Firebirds added one more in the top of the 7th to ice the game. Mike Young struck out 11 in six innings for the Dodgers.
