Don Boscher

Mark Baker was the hero in the bottom of the eighth driving home Mike Willcox from third with a one out infield single. Don Boscher was dominant in getting the win striking out thirteen enroute to his eighth win. The Firebirds took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning as Darryl Palmer and Bob Neufeld both scored with Mike Willcox getting the lone RBI. The C's made it 2-1 in the top of the second on a RBI double by Kevin Beaudry. There would be no scoring until the top of the seventh when Jeff Papp singled to lead of the inning. Dave Ellison then reached on an infield single while trying to bunt Papp to second, Papp reached third on the play. Barry Babcock tied the game on a sac. fly to right. Don Boscher preserved the tie by striking out the next two hitters. The Firebirds weren't able to mount any threat in the last half and the game went to an extra inning. The C's had a single and a walk in the eighth but weren't able to score in their half. Mike Willcox had a one out single and Don Boscher reached on a error. A passed ball put the Firebirds on second and third with one out. A high Baltimore chop by Mark Baker to third left the C's with no play at the plate as Mike Willcox scored easily.
